Against all odds

No matter the odds. No matter the circumstances. In life, there is something inevitable, a never-ending force that keeps the fire burning, and this is the change.

Life changes are all about taking the initiative. The desire to recompose your life can significantly influence your future outcomes. We have to understand that the possibilities in life are composed of percentages, which are affected by applying constant small changes to the course of action. Well-considered, and timed modifications, are what it takes to turn the odds in your favor.

Sometimes we feel the rough part of life, sliding on the edges of the mere existence as we know it, and still, at the brink of our last possible option as a choice, a preference, or path, taken in the past, there’s always something that keeps us from moving forward. It might be a comforting space, fear of the change itself, or an illusion that is clouding our vision.

Shut the blinds from the street

In the everlasting challenge to achieve something in our life, or following the attempt to become someone, there will always be voices of opposition. Expressions stacked in ridicule, like mockingbirds everywhere around us.
These opinionated individuals in our lives usually stand out the most when you are feeling insecure, undecided, or inexperienced enough. They happen to try their hardest to bring you down to their level of existence because these people envy your courageousness to try, your willingness to learn, and the ambition to achieve something better or to become someone. The lack of courage to overcome fears, or to face the many challenges in life, to develop a character is the driving force that produces the opposing attitudes against the people who tend to achieve things in life.

Learning from your mistakes in this type of social circle is easy. Thankfully, there’s a mockingbird on every corner that has your backstabbed.

When you think about your perceptiveness by others, all you need to do is have a clear perspective on where you stand and be present. You would need to listen to what is being said instead of thinking about what you have to say. Learn how to keep most things private to yourself, instead of advertising your matters, as one of these boring commercials, where no one cares about the context, some cannot afford what’s advertised, while others merely can’t wait for them to end.

It takes courage to start shutting down all of the destructive negativity around you, but it is often the safest and the fastest way to move forward.

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. — John F. Kennedy

Trust

In our weakest moments, there is a tendency to pretend that we no longer believe in ourselves as a coping mechanism while at the same time we pull every possible string necessary to follow our hearts.

In life, like in poker, everything is about timing and execution. There are so many variables that have to be considered, along with maintaining a proper set of mind and cooling down your pace until it’s time to leap into action. Once you reach the point of not having any plans to cancel or start feeling the joy from not missing out on an event that just happened somewhere, you will start gaining trust in yourself. To have faith in yourself is like having unlimited fuel, which is rare to find and still challenging to make it last. Change is unavoidable in the general sense in life, and as such, it is the fuel that gives us the power to move forward.

You’ve waited for this moment long enough, showing up every single day, working in silence, and keeping your sight away from the sun, always looking at its sunrays from a distance. At some point, you’ve had to start canceling so many plans and invitations that you reached a point where you have left with nothing to cancel. You’ve long forgotten the frustrating distractions that were keeping you away from your plans stopping you from the chance to play your hand. There’s no time for hesitation and excuses. What you should consider doing is to put all of your stakes on that table, and don’t give up until it’s over.

Dress up, go out, and get beaten. Get through that door, make this phone call, write down that email. And if you’ve ever reached a point where you feel like a failure, maybe you could chalk it up to some forced learning experience.
